Profile

Vegard Nilsen is a Norwegian conductor whose work spans opera and symphonic repertoire across Europe. His artistic profile is grounded in classical tradition and shaped by a humanist, dialogical approach to musical leadership — listening, presence, and direction without domination at the center of how an ensemble is built. Based in Oslo and active across the Nordic and European music landscapes, he combines decades of orchestral and chamber music experience with broad operatic repertoire and a sustained engagement with the intellectual and ethical dimensions of musical practice.
